DRAWING FORMATSDrawing format is the systematic spacearrangement of required information within the draftingsheet. This information is used to identify, process, andfile drawings methodicaly. Standard sizes and formatsfor military drawings are arranged according toDoD-STD-100C, Engineering Drawing Practices, andMIL-HDBK-1006/1, Policy and Procedures for ProjectDrawing and Specification Preparation. With theexception of specific local command requirements,DoD-STD-100C and MIL-HDBK-1006/1 are yourguidelines for preparing SEABEE drawings.Most of the documents applicable to thesestandards have recently been revised and updated inorder to gain like information and to share uniformityof form and language within the Naval ConstructionForce and between DoD organizations. Otherinfluencing factors are the current widespread use ofreduced-size copies of both conventional andcomputer-generated drawings and exchange ofmicrofilm.SHEET SIZESStandard drawing sheet sizes are used to facilitatereadability, reproduction, handling, and uniform filing.Blueprints produced from standard size drawing sheetsare easily assembled in sets for project stick files andcan readily be folded for mailing and neatly filed inproject letter size or legal size folders.
